Meet Dr. Emily Anne McDonald, MD
Co-Founder of One Health

Emily has dedicated her academic and clinical career to promoting community health. Her approach spans medicine, education, food systems, traditional knowledge, science and technology in pursuit of true health.  Her training brought her up in New York City hospitals where she had the privilege of treating thousands of patients and supporting hundreds of women in pregnancy and birth.  During her residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology, Emily had a reckoning with her soul path and was led back to her hometown on the North Fork of Long Island to advance health care for women on a grassroots level.

A brave decision to leave her residency program opened up a wide, new perspective on what it takes to be healthy and how we can prevent disease. Emily's programs revolve around the importance of eating fresh, seasonal whole foods that are prepared at home to prevent, reverse and treat chronic disease. The freedom has also allowed her to pursue advanced education in energy medicine, herbal arts, yoga, Ayurveda and Traditional Chinese Medicine.

Returning to the North Fork paved the way for Emily to meet Sarah, who had also settled down just a few doors away! They connected over their mutual love of good food and family gatherings, and soon realized they shared a passion for making a positive impact on people's health and the planet. Fascinated by the body's natural healing potential and the role of nutrition in promoting wellness, they are both committed to improving health for all.

In addition to the power of food as medicine, Emily helps her clients incorporating changes that support movement practices, community connection, personal reflection, and sleep and rest. It is this recipe for well-being that drives her collaboration with Sarah at One Health Culture, where she is evolving the cultural conversation around disease prevention and health promotion.

Meet Chef Sarah Mastracco,
Co-Founder of One Health

As a seasoned Chef and Culinary Producer based in New York, Sarah thrived in the high-pressure environments of top-tier kitchens such as Le Bernardin, led the production of award-winning television shows for Martha Stewart, Trisha Yearwood and Emeril Lagasse among others, and contributed to many cookbooks, advertising campaigns and magazines. However, it was her ambition to influence people's health and well-being, combined with her move to the North Fork of Long Island, that truly sparked her desire to approach food and cooking from a different perspective.

During her years attending the Institute for Integrative Nutrition (IIN) and the Wellcoaches School, Sarah learned to combine health and the culinary arts into a seamless practice by integrating holistic wellness principles with healthy home cooking techniques.

At the heart of Sarah's venture is the belief that food serves as a potent form of medicine. By integrating her One Health partner Emily's key principles of Lifestyle Medicine, Sarah advocates for a food philosophy that promotes optimal health. Her dedication to local, seasonal and natural ingredients is evident in every dish she creates.

Sarah advocates for the life-changing potential of eating whole foods to enhance our daily lives. Through her collaboration with Emily at One Health Culture, she is pioneering a path where prioritizing well-being is both attainable and essential to thriving.
